COMFL 2012 AA ATOM CHAMPIONS

Raiders Atoms capture the Central Ontario Minor Football League AA title with a 24-6 win over the North York Grizzlies in the final.

Head coach Jason Wilson directed the Raiders Atoms to their first-ever COMFL crown and last one for the organization since 2009 when a tyke entry claimed the title.

It's an amazing accomplishment for a small program like ours," Wilson said.

We only had 32 players in our spring house league and lost many of our best athletes to rep hockey that runs at the same time as the COMFL season. A lot of the 22 kids on our team were brand new to football."

Adding to the challenge facing the Raiders, Wilson noted his club was comprised largely of youngsters seven and eight years of age and were forced to go up against teams with some 30 to 40 players who were primarily nine and 10 years of age.
